FG to launch new School Curriculum

A new school curriculum that will ensure qualitative education in content and practice and guarantee best practices is set to be launched in Nigeria by September this year.
Executive Secretary, Nigeria Education Research and Development Council, Prof. Godswill Obioma, who announced this shortly after the end of the second quarterly meeting of all parastatals in the federal ministry of education, hosted by his organisation at their corporate headquarters in Abuja, said that a portal for e-curriculum for senior secondary schools that will ensure access to smart phones, teaching guides and so on, will take off in August this year also.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of the minister, permanent secretary, federal ministry of education, Dr. Mac-John Nwaobiala, said that the meeting between Wike and the chief executive officers of the parastatals, which recorded full attendance, reviewed programmes of the parastatals as they relate to the ministry’s mandate, and identified priority projects that are in line with the transformation agenda of the present administration.
‘’The meeting examined flagship projects, the fiscal budgets for 2014 and the timeliness for activities and programmes as well as any other technical issues that came up,’’ he said.
Also speaking at the briefing, the registrar of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, who provided details on the technical issues that were discussed at the meeting, said that the minister approved the commissioning of the newly built 250 capacity computer based test facility located at Bwari, Abuja yesterday, Friday June 13.
He also disclosed that there are 9 other newly built centres awaiting commissioning in places like Asaba, Umuahia and so on.
The JAMB chief executive assured that there were sufficient centres to guarantee a full take off of the CBT examinations nationwide by 2015.
