“Well, we are very sad about it (terror attacks) and we have appealed to all the youths in the country that they must not allow themselves to be used.
“And as Nigerians, they must be resolved to go against any terrorists activity and must work collectively with agencies of government, especially the security agencies to ensure that we eliminate the menace that is bedevilling the country.
“When we came to the President, we told him of the Youth conference we have had and the communique we had and what we have resolved as Christians and Muslims because among those who organised the conference, we have another Christain body by name Christain Youth for peace and good leadership initiative.
“We worked together collectively and resolved that as youths for this country, we must work together for our peace, collective existence, unity and development of this great country. These are what we told the President,” he said.
Abdulkaarim, who is also a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, said the conference which is the fourth in the series was to preach peace as well as condemn immorality and corruption, which the two religion abhorr adding that papers presented by Christian and Muslim scholars and discussed by scholars from both religious groups, was to see how they can jointly address the issue of restiveness, immorality and corruption.
“In particular, we came to understand that both religions are against youth restiveness, immorality and corruption. And the whole participants in the conference in the communique agreed to work collectively together as one Nigeria to see that they eliminate youth restiveness, immorality and corruption.
“And not only among themselves but that they will make sure that they engage in public media campaigns, in public lectures and other activities to promote the need for peaceful co-existence, need for unity and need for development of Nigeria in general.
“This is not the first time we are engaging. In fact, we (Christians and Muslims) collectively organised it and the whole idea was to further disseminate to all Nigerians that we are together and work together as one Nigeria”, he stated.
Earlier in his response, President Jonathan assured the group that their report will be studied and adopted where necessary.
