A gubernatorial aspirant under the of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Chris Mamman, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen Sunday night.

Mr. Mamman is among 13 other aspirants seeking to vie for the governorship of Nasarawa State in the 2015 general elections under the PDP platform.

It was gathered that Mamman was picked in his house in Lafia around 8.30pm after a mob attacked him and burnt his car at the Aren Eggon Palace, Bala Angbazo, in Nasarawa Eggon.

Mr Mamman was in the palace on the invitation of the paramount ruler alongside Senator Ewuga and Labaran Maku to discuss how to pick a consensus candidate among them to represent the Eggon interest in the 2015 general elections.

Chris Mamman is the immediate past national president of Eggon Cultural Association.

The director general of Chris Mamman Campaign Organisation, Mr. Nawani Aboki, said that the aspirant was last seen 8.30pm Sunday night in Lafia after he was rescued from the mob in Nasarawa Eggon.

Mr. Aboki alleged that the attack on his candidate and his subsequent abduction is the hand work of his political opponents.

“Our candidate was in Nasarawa Eggon as part of effort by the Eggon traditional council to ensure that they are able to speak with one voice and have one candidate but as our candidate was approaching the palace mob came out and accosted him. and manhandled him but was later rescued”.

“All other candidates of Eggon extraction were their, Maku, and Ewuga but we don’t know who might have masterminded the attack among them”.

“Even after he was rescued we were told later in the day that some unknown people came and took him away and we don’t who the persons are and we are yet to make contact with him 12 hours after”.

Mr. Aboki said that they will eventually inform the police if at the end of the day they are unable to find him.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO ) Umar Ismaila Numan said he is yet to be briefed over the matter when contacted by our correspondent.
