The Federal Government has sacked 9 directors in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as part of an exercise geared at re-engineering the aviation industry regulatory agency.
It was learnt that the sack letters were issued by the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika.
The affected directors are: Alhaji Salawu Ozigi (Director of Finance and Accounts); Dr. Joyce Nkemakolam (Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards); Barr. Aba Ejembi (Director of Administration) and Mr. Emmanuel Ogunbami (Director of Licensing).
Others are Engr. Benedict Adeyileka (Director of Airworthiness); Mr. Justus Wariya (Director of Air Transport Regulation); Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi (Director of Consumer Protection): Capt. Ayodele Sasegbon (Director of General Aviation); and Mr. Austin-Amadi Ifeanyi (Director of Human Resources).
“Only the Director General/CEO of the NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman was spared in the purge,” the source who declined to be named added. It would be recalled that Usman had also recently survived a mass sack of all heads of Nigeria’s aviation sector parastatals effected by the Federal Government.
In recent months there have been several complains by stakeholders in the aviation sector bothering on the NCAA poor regulations of airlines, a trend many link to the collapse of – Aero and Arik – two of the nation’s leading airlines and their takeover by AMCON.
