A Lagos State High Court in Igbosere on Friday admitted as evidence exhibits recovered from the scene of Late Funsho Williams’ murder.
Justice Ebenezer Adebajo admitted as evidence a rope, a knife, a mattress and a cushion which were exhibits presented before the court by CSP Shehu Sanni Wazo of the Nigerian Police forensic department.
Wazo presented the exhibits while being led in evidence before the court by the prosecuting counsel, Mrs. E.I. Alakija.
In the absence of Mr. Bennett Agbo of the police forensic department on whom the court, during the previous sitting, had issued a witness of summon, Alakija had applied for the exhibits to be presented by Wazo.
Wazo also told the court that the blood-stained shirt allegedly belonging to the sixth defendant, Okponwasa Imariebie, could not be presented before the court owing to the short notice of summon.
Alakija applied to the court for the exhibits to be returned to the forensic laboratory to prevent contamination.
However the defence counsel, Mr. Agbara Okezie, in opposing the application argued that since the exhibits had been tendered, same should be left in the custody of the court.
Adebajo, however, overruled Agbara’s objections but upheld that the exhibits be returned to the police forensic department.
Further hearing on the case was adjourned till June 9, 2014.
