The TY Danjuma foundation said it has given out a total of N2 billion to organisations in form of grants between 2010 and 2014 just as it disclosed that 75 organisations also benefited within the same period.
This was disclosed by the foundation’s executive director, Dr. Florence Etta-Akin Aina, at the occasion of the foundation’s fifth grantees training on Friday in Benin City, Edo state.
Aina listed three core intervention areas of the foundation to include education, quality healthcare and income generation for women and youths.
The executive director also disclosed that 7 million persons have been treated of non-tropical diseases by the foundation within the same period.
She noted that this year alone, N77.5m grants have already be given to 11 organisations across the country, adding that seven of the 11 organisations were implementing Edo Community Fund projects.
She noted: “The foundation has funded 75 organisations to implement 117 projects in 18 states of the federation, including the federal capital territory. This year, a total of 288 project proposals were received for the 2014 grant cycle.
“From the proposals, 44 were recommended by staff review team and forwarded to the board of trustees who approved grants to 25 organisations, totalling N250m for the year.”
Aina stressed that the aim of the foundation was to continually impact on lives of the vulnerable in the society.
“We seek government collaboration with the NGOs that the foundation works with. This collaboration will enhance their effectiveness thereby making us achieve our core value,” she posited.
