Yobo joins Kano Pillars

Kano Pillars have won the four-horse race for the signing of former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo.
Yobo, who will be 36 years on September 6, signed a deal with the League Management Company, LMC, organisers of the Nigerian top flight, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)which will see the former Everton and Norwich of England defender star for a domestic league club as a means of promoting and adding value to the league by attracting more spectators to the various league match venues.
Yobo, who equally featured for Fenerbahce of Turkey during his illustrious career, made 101 international appearances for the Super Eagles, making him the highest capped Nigerian player so far in history.
After he signified his intention to play for a Nigerian clubside, no fewer than four NPFL sides, including FC Ifeanyiubah, Akwa United, Wikki Tourists and Kano Pillars indicated interest in the center-back who was originally scheduled to feature in the last 12 NPFL games.
Alhaji Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the League Management Company, LMC, exclusively revealed that Kano Pillars have become the preferred destination of the defender.
Kano Pillars are slugging it out with struggling Shooting Stars of Ibadan in a match day 33 fixture this weekend.
Thereafter, they will return to their Sani Abacha Stadium home ground where they will welcome sixth-placed Sunshine Stars in a match day 34 fixture during which Yobo is expected to make his Nigerian league comeback in the colours of Kano Pillars.
