Adamawa State government has given former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo, 24 hours within which to remove his presidential campaign billboard hoisted in the state capital, Yola.
The billboard was mounted at the popular Roundabout Mai Doki, some few metres to Yola Airport.
The billboard confirms Dankwambo’s interest to contest the Presidential polls on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Adamawa State Commissioner for Information, Ahmad Sajoh, who confirmed the directive, stated that the decision of the state government had no political undertone, saying, those that erected the billboard did not follow due process.
He added that such billboard ought to attract tax payment but noted that the manner it was erected had made it possible for those who mounted it to evade tax.
He said:‘’The Urban Development Board, Internal Revenue Board and other agencies of government were contacted whether or not those that erected and mounted the billboard followed the due process.
“But the reply we got was negative and government has no other alternative than to take that decision.”
He maintained that at the expiration of the ultimatum, appropriate action would be taken against those that mounted the billboard.
