Following the release of suspected killers of an Igbo woman, Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, in Kano State by a Magistrate’s Court in Kano, Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide has threatened to shut down the city if justice is not allowed to take its full course in the matter.
Ohanaeze insisted that a magistrate’s court, which had no jurisdiction over the trial of murder cases, cannot order the release of the suspects without the support of the state government.
The youth group urged Ndigbo living in Kano to come out en masse on Friday, November 11, to protest the judgment, which saw Agbahime’s suspected killers released from detention, adding that its national President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, will lead the protest.
In a statement by its National Secretary and Public Relations Officer, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and Obinna Adibe, respectively, the council said it had resolved to employ all lawful means to ensure that the killers are made to answer for their crimes, and expressed optimism that the appellate court will serve justice on the matter.
