In Tanzania, Diamond is a household name but he was not satisfied with his achievements in East Africa. The young man sought to become known in West Africa and used Davido as leverage.
He was lucky, the collaboration paid off.
But Diamond said that he wasn’t the only one that gained from the collaboration. The East African said Davido is currently the rave of the moment artiste in Tanzania courtesy of that collaboration.
“I met Davido when he came over to Tanzania for a show and when we were together he heard my song. I told him I would love to feature him on the remix of my song, Number One, and he agreed. Currently the song is topping charts in various African countries.
Diamond claimed Davido was not so popular in Tanzania, saying it was the collaboration that got him the fame in that part of Africa.
“Shortly after, he released Aye and that made him very popular in my country as well. They love the song in my country. I featured Davido on the track because I wanted to launch myself into the West African market and he was the best person for the job. I used Davido to break into the West African market. I am happy that I am accepted in West Africa because I am from East Africa and my song with Davido is topping chats in West Africa. It was a good collaboration,” Diamond said. Punch
