The Chairman of the Care Taker Committee, Igbo Etiti Local Government of Enugu State, Mr. Malachy Agbo, has received massive support from the traditional rulers and the town union presidents of the communities in the area.
The backing was given during separate meetings held with the two bodies under the aegis of Igbo Etiti Traditional Rulers Council and Igbo Etiti Town Union Presidents-General, at Ogbede.
At the session with the traditional rulers, Agbo reiterated his willingness to partner with everyone who had the interest of the council area and its people at heart, stressing that it was the duty of every stake holder in the area to work towards the realization of peace and development needed to add proper value to the lives of citizens.
He thanked the Chiefs for their tireless efforts in holding their communities together, stressing that love was the essential ingredient every community needed to exist in true brotherhood.
He thanked them for the support they accorded the past administration, urging them to extend same to him.
On his part, the Chairman of the body and the Igwe of Ojime Ukehe Autonomous Community, Igwe Michael Odo, observed that, considering the Chairman’s plans and strategies for achieving them, the council and its people were apparently in capable hands.
He therefore on behalf of his colleagues pledged to support him and his team in their efforts to better the lots of the local government area.
The heads of the security agencies representing the police, DSS, Civil Defence, and Immigrations who were also in attendance, took their turns to make contributions, especially as it concerned maintaining and sustaining security and peace in the area.
The unions noted that since security was the backbone of development in any area, the agencies were thus crucial stakeholders in the community and promised that they would be supported in their jobs.
The DPO, Mr Ifeanyi Nwoye, observed that of all the communities in the area, only four had had their neighbourhood watch groups inaugurated.
He noted there was need for others to be inaugurated for improved general security of the local government.
During his interaction with the Presidents-General of the town unions, Agbo extended similar message of partnership which was well received by the body as they assured through their leader, Mr. Augustine Ike, of their total support.
Ike noted that since the council was made up of all the communities, the Chairman’s message of hope and development would be delivered to other members of the local council through the attending representatives.
