The Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the workers and its ingenuity in providing good governance in the state.
Rising from a State Executive Council meeting, the Union through a communiqué signed by its President and Principal Secretary, Comrade Kenneth Ugwueze and Sir. Ungoro Oweikonu John, respectively, congratulated the governor for the successful inauguration of the Caretaker Committees in the 17 Local Government Councils of the state as well as the bold steps his administration took to instill sanity in the Local Government system.
NULGE also endorsed the Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Hon. Cornell Onwubuya as “the best Local Government Chairman for 2015”, saying that “the award was based on merit as the Chairman has displayed his worth as a good administrator”.
According to the Union, “we strongly commend His Excellency’s determination and benevolence in solving the problems of Local Government workers and redeeming the image of Local Government System in the State.
“The appointment of Caretaker Committees in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, and your resolve to pay workers’ salaries as a priority among other issues are some of the bold steps your administration has taken to instill sanity in the Local Government system”
While urging the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen to emulate the good policies of the governor, the Union called on its members to redouble their efforts in supporting the Committee Chairmen in their various Local Government Councils.
