The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) in partnership with Skyplus Logistics has launched inter airport terminal shuttle to reduce the problem of passenger movement between the domestic and international terminals of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
FAAN General Manager, Commercial, Mr. Tayo Adewakun while unveiling the shuttle bus, said the effort was geared towards enhancing passengers’ security, comfort and to boost the image of the country.
According to him, ‘’There is a vacuum which FAAN has identified in the past years between the terminals, in terms of passenger movement within the airport’’
He said the airport terminals shuttle was designed to provide efficient system that will help solve transportation challenges within the airports.
Adewakun further explained that the bus would pick passengers from domestic terminal 1, known as General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and drop them at MM2 and International terminals, without stopping on the road. He added that the shuttle bus will not pick any passenger on the road, but are allowed only to pick passengers at DT1 and MMIA and to also drop passengers only at MM2.
Managing Director of Skyplus Contract and Logistics, Mrs. Shobayo said she was motivated to partner with FAAN because of her experience as a frequent flyer.
Shobayo noted that the deployment of the shuttle bus would bridge the gap between local and international airport, adding that getting a drop for passengers on transit was always risky.
She added that the shuttle bus is fully air-conditioned with enough room legs for the comfort of passengers. It has a carrier on its top where passengers’ luggage can be accommodated.
“The airport shuttle is a robust idea for group travellers. It has advantage for local and international travelers above other transport services.
“The shuttle has a moderate cost and an effective time schedule because of the participation of FAAN.” She said.
According to her, the bus management has an efficient logistic that allows the shuttle take passengers directly from arrival or departure point and a facility that is not provided by other transport services. The shuttle bus starts operation from 6am to 11pm, she added. – Thisday.
