Wife of the Governor of Edo State has debunked the falsehood going round the internet and social media that she has filed for a divorce of her marriage to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Mrs. Lara Oshiomhole, who has spent almost a year in the blissful marriage to the former President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and social activist since May 16 2015, said that she is not only enjoying her marriage, contrary to the news making the rounds, but that she is also enjoying doing her humanitarian work in Edo State, We Care Trust.
According to the originators of the spurious and malicious report that is believed to have been written to embarrass Comrade Adams Oshiomhole because of his direct and frontal attacks against acts planned or intended to sabotage the Nigerian national economy and reduce the standard of living of Nigerians, Lara allegedly filed for a divorce because, according to her, Oshiomhole is allegedly too fetish and petty.
Responding to the falsehood in Benin City, Mrs. Oshiomhole, who spoke in a statement signed and emailed to Saturday Mirror by the Executive Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Governor’s Office, Mike Mayaki, described the news as a “satanic report”. “My attention has been drawn to a most wicked and malicious rumour making the rounds in the social media that the wife of the Governor of Edo State, Mrs. Lara Oshiomhole, has filed for divorce.”
“Ordinarily, we would have seen no need to join issues with the merchants of rumours whose stocks-in-trade is to malign public figures, but for the need to allay the fears of those who might have been misled by their devious garbage. We are compelled to clear the air before this careless, utterly reckless, unethical and irresponsible journalism becomes an epidemic. “Which court of law was the alleged divorce initiated and to whom was it served? Which country, state, municipal or county, if any, is the court situated? And when was the action or suit filed? Of course, the writers didn’t bother to inform their readers. The truth, however, is that the answers only exist in the warped imagination of the purveyors of the lies.
“The fact is: Mrs Lara Oshiomhole is enjoying her marriage. She will never file for divorce, and there is clearly no basis for it. Mrs. Oshiomhole was in her office throughout the week holding meetings and brainstorming on how to better the lots of the less privileged, women and children in the state through her project, We Care Trust. She also had the opportunity to accompany her beloved husband, the Comrade Governor, on project inspection; including inspecting the world-class new Central Hospital, which is ongoing in Benin City; some erosion control sites and some road construction sites.
” Contrary to the falsehood, Saturday Mirror reliably learnt that Mrs. Oshiomhole also visited four orphanage homes in the Benin metropolis in demonstration of her meekness and kindness, drawing from the active support of her husband. On Thursday, February 4, after series of engagements, she was sighted in the office of the Governor before later embarking on a journey with her husband. Saturday Mirror exclusively gathered that We Care Trust is presently embarking on the training of Edo youths in a programme christened: Project Focus, as part of Mrs. Oshiomhole’s efforts to uplift the socio-economic life of Edo State people.
