Some lawmakers of the Benue State House of Assembly on Monday served an impeachment notice on Governor Samuel Ortom.
The lawmakers, led by the ousted Speaker, Terkimibi Ikyange, made the threat at a news conference in Makurdi.
The impeachment notice was served by only eight All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the House.
The spokesperson for the eight lawmakers told journalists that the House has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Ortom on the allegations of diversion of state funds and abuse of office.
