Dr Seinye Lulu-Briggs, widow of late oil magnate and philanthropist, Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs, has narrated her ordeal and how she recovered from COVID-19 after she was placed in the Intensive Care Unit ICU).
Seinye spoke virtually during a thanksgiving to mark the 20th anniversary of the O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday.
Expressing happiness for clocking 63, she said God had not forgotten her despite the various predicaments she had experienced over the years.
“It is one thing to endure hardship with a competent captain, who is able to navigate through storms; it is entirely something else to endure the storm on your own. To feel as if no one sees you and no one else can do anything.
“I was in very difficult circumstances. It was multiplied a hundred fold when I could not see families, I could not see friends. So, I faced God. He is invisible but ever present,” she said but noted that challenges were temporary.
Lulu-Briggs added. “This tells me my predicaments are temporary. I want to let us know that we have a heavenly captain who already factored all your situations, all your problems.
“He factored COVID-19 in my life and it was part of His plan, His purpose, everything, including me recovered. You need to know what you are inside; the word of God. Nobody can disgrace you if you are in God.
“I sat down on my bed in the ICU on the 30th of August and I saw myself in the word of God. And he decided to remove me there.
Also, in a statement on the programme, she said the foundation had provided potable water to 33 communities in the Niger Delta region in the last 20 years.
“The O.B Lulu-Briggs foundation access to clean water and sanitation programme is in response to the prevalence of water borne diseases in communities within the Niger Delta region.
“Through our intervention in this area, we have taken potable water to communities across the Niger Delta. We have also built and donated toilet and sanitary facilities to enhance public health and wellbeing.
“So far, we have provided 10,450 households in 25 communities of the Niger Delta with access to potable water,” Mrs. Lulu-Briggs stated.
She expressed gratitude at the impact the foundation has made in touching lives and improving wellbeing in several communities “on account of the boundless generosity of my husband of blessed memory, High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs and grand benefactor.
