Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to pay worker’s salaries promptly as was the case during the administration of his predecessor, in spite of the economic challenges in the country.
The Governor made this known while receiving members of the Governing Council and Management of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, who were at the Government House to pay him a courtesy call.
Governor Ugwuanyi noted that Government is a continuum, and his administration is poised to fulfill all promises made by the past administration, as soon as it is able to pass through the economic crunch in the country.
He equally demanded for more study centres for Enugu State from the University to boost education in the state as his administration places premium on education.
He thanked NOUN for its support to the State Government, and also expressed delight over the honour done on the illustrious son of the state, His Royal Highness, Amb. Lawrence Akubuzor by the institution as its first Chancellor, describing it as an honour not only for him but for the entire Enugu State.
The Governor promised that his administration would not only reciprocate the kind gesture but will do its best to collaborate with the institution on how best to empower the youths and create employment in the state.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, stated that they were at the Government House to congratulate the Governor for his “well-deserved victory” at the poll and equally in the State to formally present a letter of appointment to the first Chancellor of the University, His Royal Highness, Amb. Lawrence Akubuzor.
The Vice Chancellor who briefed the Governor on its operational status in the country told him that Enugu is very special to NOUN as the state has one of the best centres in the South East geo political zone.
He thanked the Governor for being the first Governor to grant them audience in this new dispensation, stating that the State has taken the lead, which signified that its premium committment to education.
