President Goodluck Jonathan met behind closed door with governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship candidates on the party’s platform in the forthcoming election on Monday, ostensibly to discuss strategies for the polls.
The meeting, which took place at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is a prelude to series of meeting the president has scheduled with aspirants into other elected offices in a bid to galvanise them into staying loyal to the PDP.
More meetings have been planned with National Assembly aspirants under the PDP at the various geopolitical zones of the federation.
President Jonathan, who announced the plan for the meetings in Abuja, on Monday, said the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Dr Ahmadu Ali, would announce the dates for the meetings with the aspiring members of the legislature.
He explained it had to be zoned, in order not to make them unwieldy, but more meaningful
