Overland Airways, on Tuesday, announced the commencement of scheduled flight operations from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to the new Dutse International Airport, Jigawa State capital.
In a statement, the airline said it had commenced three weekly return flights that would run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Dutse from Abuja.
It added that flights to Dutse would depart Abuja at 09.30am and arrive in Dutse at 11.15am while the flight from Dutse to Abuja would depart at 11.45am and arrive in Abuja at 1.30pm.
The Chief Executive Officer, Overland Airways, Capt. Edward Boyo, said the airline was concerned about increasing access of Nigerians to various routes.
He said, “The commencement of scheduled flights operations on the Abuja-Dutse-Abuja route in addition to the existing routes is part of Overland Airways’ objective to facilitate air transportation among the major cities of Nigeria.”
“As an airline, we are committed to providing our customers with safe and outstanding service with excellent value for money.”
Boyo congratulated the Jigawa State Government and the State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, for the vision to embark on and complete in record time the airport project.
He promised that Overland Airways would serve the good people of Jigawa State efficiently.
The statement said Overland Airways, an airline company registered to operate charter and scheduled flights, commenced operations in 2002 with the aim of increasing the prosperity of the Nigerian hinterland by facilitating the air transportation of government officials, business men and women, indigenous and foreign investors and the general public between the major cities.
According to the statement, the airline operates a fleet of modern equipment and facilities with the strictest standards of safety.
