The Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, yesterday dissolved the State Executive Council, constituted by former governor Murtala Nyako, as well as councils of Special Advisers, Principal Special Assistants and other political appointees of the former governor.
The dissolution contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Abdullahi Tukur, directed the former cabinet members to hand over all government property in their possession to their respective permanent secretaries, who were to take full charge of their ministries.
In a similar vein, the acting governor has also scrapped the Special Projects and Programmes Unit (SPPU) under the office of the governor.
The Dirctor of Press and Public Affairs to the acting governor, Mr. Solomon Kumangar, who made this known yesterday in a statement, said it was the fallout of the executive briefing from Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).
Meanwhile, a youth association, Adamawa State Youths Forum, yesterday charged the acting governor to ensure he rekindled the hopes and aspirations of the citizenry within the short time he would be in office as the chief executive of the state.
The forum said Fintiri should do everything expected of his exalted position to restore the lost glory of the state and rekindle hope in the people, address the decay in the state and provide a more robust leadership.
A statement by the youth group signed by its director general, Alhaji Jamilu Yusuf, called on well-meaning sons and daughters of the state to join hands with the acting governor towards moving the state forward, while appealing to the citizens to use the development to learn the art of democracy as a system of governance.
“Although the impeachment of the former governor will not go well within certain people, especially his supporters, we the youths of Adamawa State believe that the state is greater than any individual, hence we must do all we can to keep the state moving towards the right direction.
“The wish of every genuine stakeholder irrespective of whoever is steering the ship of the state is for it to progress by doing all they can to prevent it from being run aground,” the statement said.
