The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has told the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to focus on how to tackle the bandits ravaging the Northern region and stop meddling into its legitimate agitations.
In a statement on Sunday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, noted with dismay, the statement credited to Mohammed that IPOB cannot achieve Biafra.
The Bauchi governor was in Anambra State on Friday to woo the state delegates ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary later this month.
While interacting with the Anambra State PDP stakeholders, Mohammed, a presidential aspirant of the party, had said, “Igbo are everywhere in the country and have occupied more than half of the country’s land.”
Mohammed also advised the IPOB agitators to drop their ambition, which according to him, was not realisable.
But Powerful in reaction through the press statement cautioned the governor to stop commenting on IPOB matters because he has limited and biased knowledge about the group.
He said, “IPOB has no time to join issues with a Fulani governor by default who sees nothing wrong in the atrocities by Fulani bandits but is always in a hurry to fault mere peaceful agitation by non-violent IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups.
“Contrary to this thinking, IPOB is not begging for land. Land does not signify freedom, we are fighting for our self determination which will show the world that we are special people. Our land is enough for us to operate as a nation. We don’t need borrowed lands. There are so many countries in the world occupying less landmass than we do.”
He added that IPOB is a God-ordained movement designed to champion the cause of Biafra and liberate its citizens from the Nigeria bondage.
The statement read in part, “Our attention has been drawn to the laughable, disgraceful and unguarded statements credited to the governor of Bauchi State, Gov. Bala Muhammed, saying that IPOB cannot achieve Biafra. He advertised his ignorance by mentioning IPOB in his political ranting thinking that IPOB is in his class.
“Mohammed the defender of terrorists should stop commenting on IPOB matters because he has limited and biased knowledge about us.
“He should respect himself and must know that IPOB will achieve Biafra freedom in his time and he will be shocked. IPOB is a God-ordained movement designed to champion the cause of Biafra and liberate its citizens from the Nigeria bondage.”
