The National Convention of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC will hold on June 23, 2018.
The Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, the Governor of Jigawa State, Governor Abubakar Badaru restated this while briefing journalists after a meeting of the committee in Abuja.
The APC National Convention is an elective one that would elect new national executives to lead the party for the next four years.
Governor Badaru said that the June 23 date would still be discussed with the APC National leaders.
“As it is today, it is suggested by the committee to have the convention on the 23rd of June but we will like to discuss this with the national secretariat to confirm the date.”
The APC just held its state congresses around the country and about 20 states had parallel congresses.
However, Governor Badaru was positive that the parallel congresses wouldn’t affect the National Convention.
“I am very sure that they would be resolved before the time of the convention, most of those issues, we will find a way to resolve them before the convention date,” Badaru said.
He added that the convention will be cheap and they intend to raise the money from party members, “we are raising it from party members and they have started donating.”
