Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has declared that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State is not collaborating with any political party in the forthcoming general elections, contrary to the claims by some candidates of the opposition political parties in the State.
The Governor who made this position known during the PDP campaign rally at Ogurute, the headquarters of the Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of the State, stated that the PDP is popular, strong and formidable in Enugu State and does not need the collaboration of another political party to win elections in the State.
Chime revealed that the clarification was necessary in view of the attempts by some former members of the PDP now in the opposition political parties to mislead PDP supporters to vote for them and their political parties during the general elections.
The Governor who specially thanked the people of Igbo Eze North Local Government Area for their unalloyed support to the PDP since the inception of the Party in 1998, further called on them to disregard such political gimmicks by those he described as “selfish politicians” and come out en masse on the 14th and 28th of February, 2015 to vote for all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is about selfishness, nobody should be confused, we will not vote for them, it is PDP all the way and we want 100% votes for the PDP, and Igbo Eze North Local Government Area has been PDP all the way since 1998” said Chime.
Also at the rally, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area distanced themselves from all the actions taken by Senator Ayogu Eze regarding the outcome of theDecember 8, 2015 governorship primaries in the State, saying that the Senator “is on his own”.
The stakeholders made this known through the member representing Igbo Eze North I constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Onyeze who spoke at the rally on their behalf.
They therefore, pledged their loyalty and support to the PDP-led State leadership of Governor Sullivan Chime and re-assured the party of their commitment to secure a landslide victory for the party in all the elections.
In his own speech, the Governorship candidate of the party in Enugu State, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi thanked the people of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area for the tremendous support they gave to him in the 12 years he served as their representative in the National Assembly and assured them that he will do more to address their developmental needs as Governor of Enugu State.
