Coach of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, has lambasted the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the non-payment of his salaries, believed to be in months.
The former Nigeria international expressed his anger over the action of the federation in paying new Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, three months upfront, saying the same NFF had complained of being broke in recent times. Only last week, the NFF said it had paid Oliseh three month salaries which translates into N15m and Amuneke, who is believed to be on a N1m monthly salary, disclosed that he has not been paid for several months.
“The people that paid Oliseh decided to pay Oliseh, but one thing they have to know is that there are other national team coaches working that have not been paid. So, if they owe other coaches and they pay Oliseh, I think it is not fair,” Amuneke said in a radio interview monitored by LEADERSHIP.
The former Barcelona winger, however, added that nobody should expect anything from him as he prepares the national U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile later in the year.
“They haven’t paid me. Why should they expect anything from me?” he stated.
This has always been the problem with Nigeria. You cannot pay somebody on N1Million per month with the same qualification and better experience for months but a man on N5million per month is paid 3 months in advance. The next we shall hear is that he should come and face the disciplinary committee for complaining about being owed for months.
